19TH CENTURY BURMESE CHEDI This is a wonderful piece. I have never seen a chedi with anywhere near this degree of detail and complexity. One can only speculate as to how they were able to cast it. It is four sided, and each side is identical to the one you see, so it contains four buddhas, Each buddha has two monks flanking him. It stands 15 inches (37.5cm) high. Condition is quite good - there is a restoration to one of the triangular arches above the buddha, and one of the others may have been restored at some point; hard to tell. The piece was also cleaned at some point, but still has a nice, dark patina. It is slightly darker than the picture, which is lightened a bit to show the detail. I overpaid slightly for it because I liked it so much, but it's a great piece. $2000
